Get your back-to-school shopping done this weekend (if you don't mind the crowds).
August 6-7, 2010 is Tax Free Weekend in Iowa on clothing and footwear (though most athletic shoes are still taxed).
If you can't go this weekend, just take a trip up to Minnesota any day of the year....it's always tax free.

The Club at Jordan Creek
Join "The Club" at Jordan Creek and get lots of deals throughout the year.
They just sent out an email this week for a $10 gift card for tax free weekend, just for being in The Club. You just have to print the email and bring it to the customer service desk....pretty nice getting things for free! A friend told me about it and said she doesn't get too many emails from them, not crowding her inbox, but when she does, they are good deals.

Going out of town to a Macy's?
Alright, there isn't even a Macy's in Iowa! Why am I putting anything about Macy's on the blog?
Well, if you are from out of state visiting a Macy's department store, you can go to the customer service desk, show your out of state drivers license and get a coupon for an extra 20% of your total that can be used on top of any other discounts....not bad!

AmesEats.com Coupons and Discount Card
A new site, to me at least, in Ames is AmesEats.com This is a website run by the Iowa State Daily. They list a bunch of Ames restaraunts along with their menus and their special deals (like their happy hour deals, etc). They also have coupons for certain restaraunts on the site.
I guess they have a discount card too. From what I can gather, you just go by the Iowa State Daily office in Hamilton Hall and pick up a card. The details are sketchy on this. Then with this card you get 10% off all participating restaraunts. Here's the list of restaraunts If anyone knows any better details, let me know.

Coupons on Ames CVB website
I found some good coupons to use on the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau website. It is a pdf that you can print off. They are the "Ames Red Carpet Coupons". I'm pretty sure this is a set of coupons that I'll just print off and keep in my purse for when I happen to need them.

It's also a good website to visit to learn about all that is happening in Ames, a lot being free...good free date ideas!

Fareway's Competitor's Ad Prices
Just thought everyone should know that if you see a price advertised at another grocery store (mostly Cub and HyVee), Fareway sees it also and almost always already has the prices changed in their store to match (including HyVee's Hot Deals which are great deals). They also take coupons from any competitors
